Mulugeta Tsege Beraso is a coffee processor working with more than 100 farmers in Gedo zone, Yirgachefe woreda, Afarsa Werebi, and Woro Betela kebele, SNNPR. He has a washing station and processes 150,000 kilograms of washed coffee and 100,000 kilograms of naturally-dried coffee a year.
“We process coffee with utmost care,” Mulugeta said. “Red cherries are carefully collected and pulped before they’re sun-dried to keep the moisture content to 11-12. Once fully dried, they are stored in a warehouse awaiting market. We sell our coffee to exporters and ECX.”
His coffee scored 85.79, making it one of the national winners. “This has boosted my confidence. I am very happy and encouraged to work with my farmers so they will participate in and benefit from the next Cup of Excellence.”
